DraftSight 2026 Features

Start Page
DraftSight’s new Start Page, also called the Start tab, appears when the program launches and centralizes key tasks like opening recent files, creating new drawings, and accessing templates.
It also integrates learning tools, product updates, and quick links to online resources directly within the interface.
Available in DraftSight Premium, Enterprise Plus, and Mechanical.
Gradient & Pattern Ribbons
Hatch Gradient adds colorful depth and visual clarity to your drawings with gradient hatch fills. This enhancement helps communicate details more effectively in both technical and presentation drawings.
Pattern Ribbon provides access to all your pattern and array tools in one convenient ribbon tab. The streamlined layout makes creating and editing patterns faster and more intuitive.

Floating Window
The new Floating Windows feature lets you drag drawing tabs to another monitor, giving you the freedom to work across multiple screens. Boost your productivity by viewing, editing, and referencing different files side by side for a faster, more efficient design workflow.

ECW File Support
Easily import and display ECW compressed raster images, such as aerial or satellite maps, without slowing down your drawings. This feature provides high-quality imagery with minimal file size for smoother performance.

DIESEL Expressions
DraftSight’s built‑in string‑based “macro” language can dynamically generate text, especially in menus, status bar entries, and custom commands.

PCX Print Files

Hatch Patterns
The HATCHPATTERN command enables users to define or insert custom hatch definitions (.pat) directly in their drawing environment.

Get Block Info
The GETBLOCKINFO command lets you instantly count how many instances of a particular block exist within a selected area or across the entire drawing.
You can display this information in a table within the drawing or export it as a new file.
